The United Way Day of Caring will be Wednesday, July 26. Day of Caring is a structured volunteer opportunity that provides participants with a peek at volunteering. Businesses and organizations can make a commitment to offer their employees a chance to “step away from their desks.” Volunteers are needed in Simpson County for a project at Franklin-Simpson Nursing and Rehab anytime from 10am to 4pm for as little or as long as the volunteers would like. Volunteers can assist by visiting with the residents, reading a book to a group, or even arranging a Bingo tournament. Volunteers will need to coordinate efforts in advance to ensure activities are approved. For more information, visit www.UnitedWayDayofCaring.com. If you or your group would like to volunteer, call April Owens at United Way of Southern Kentucky at 270-843-3205.
